Chalet Carré in deep snow on a winter evening
Terms and house rules

Before you book

Everything that's agreed when you stay with us, in plain English. There isn't much, and most of it is common sense.

1

Booking

You book Chalet Carré direct with the owners, Steve and Jodi. Choose your dates on the booking page and send a request. Sending a request doesn't commit you to anything and nothing is charged.

We hold your dates while we check them, then email you to confirm. That email sets out the total price, our bank details and our cancellation terms.

Your booking is confirmed once your 25% deposit reaches us by bank transfer. The balance is due 8 weeks before you arrive, and we'll email you a reminder with the amount and our bank details. If you book less than 8 weeks before you arrive, the balance is due straight away.

The chalet is also listed on other booking sites. If you book through one of those instead, that site's own terms apply to your booking.

2

Prices

Prices are per night for the whole chalet, for up to 8 guests, and are shown on the rates page. A stay that runs across two seasons is charged at each season's nightly rate.

Made-up beds with fresh linen, Wi-Fi, parking and the end-of-stay clean are all included. There's no extra cleaning fee.

3

Arriving and leaving

Check in

From 17:00. Let us know roughly when you'll arrive so we can make sure everything's ready.

Check out

By 10:00, so the chalet can be cleaned for the next guests.

Keys

Your keys are in a secure key box at the chalet. We send you the code before you arrive. It's unique to your stay and stops working at 10:30 on the day you leave.

When you leave

Lock the door and put the keys back in the key box.

Parking

There's parking for two cars directly outside the chalet. Please don't park in the large area beyond the driveway. It's a turning area and has to be kept clear.

Winter driving

Winter tyres or snow chains are a legal requirement in Haute-Savoie from 1 November to 31 March.

4

House rules

Shoes off

Please take outdoor shoes and ski boots off at the door. There's space for boots and skis in the garage.

No smoking

No smoking anywhere inside the chalet.

Quiet evenings

The chalet sits in a very peaceful spot, so please keep the noise down in the evenings. Quiet hours are 23:00 to 07:00.

No parties

No parties or events, and no hen or stag groups.

Pets

We're sorry, but pets aren't allowed.

Children

Children of all ages are welcome. There are no cots or high chairs at the chalet, but our local concierge can supply them (see extras).

Damage

Accidents happen, so just tell us. If something is damaged during your stay, you may be asked to pay up to €300 towards it after you check out.

5

In the chalet

Heating

From autumn to spring the heating is set to 20°C and comes on from 06:00 to 09:00 and 18:00 to 22:00. In the warmer months it's switched off. Message us if you'd like it changed either way.

Hot water

There should be plenty for everyone. If you run short, tell us and we'll sort it.

Cleaning

You don't need to clean before you leave. If you need to mop up a spill, cleaning things are under the kitchen sink, and there's a hoover, mop and bucket in the garage.

Rubbish and recycling

In France you take your rubbish and recycling to the shared collection points. The nearest is on the D32 towards Le Biot.

6

Extras

Our local concierge, Biot-Tifoul, can supply baby equipment (travel cot, high chair, changing mat and potty), hire out sledges, deliver groceries and drive you to and from the airport or the slopes. You arrange and pay for these direct with Robin at Biot-Tifoul, by text or WhatsApp on +33 6 47 26 49 77.

We can book them for you if you'd prefer, with a 10% charge on top. Going direct is cheaper and quicker, though.

Ski hire, restaurants and other local services are run by independent businesses, and their own terms apply. Our local guides list the ones we use and recommend.

7

During your stay

If you need anything, message Steve through the site you booked with, or on WhatsApp on +44 7797 812923. If it's urgent, just call.

In an emergency, dial 112. Doctors, taxis and other useful numbers are in our local guides, and the welcome pack in the chalet has the Wi-Fi details and everything else you'll need while you're here.
